Plaine & Easie Code is a code used to transcribe musical incipits. It is maintained by the IAML (International Association of Music Libraries) andRISM (RĂ©pertoire International des Sources Musicales), and is compatible with formats of bibliographical cataloguing.

They are complex codes that might cause musicians problems with reading. The following programme provides a "translation" of the P&E code into musical notation.
